For three weeks the Cockroach Janta Party lived almost entirely online — a meme, a movement, a swarm of followers. On 6 June 2026 it stepped off the screen. Supporters gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for a peaceful protest, the party's first major offline action since it was founded in mid-May.
The one demand
The protest carried a single, blunt ask: the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, over the cascade of 2026 examination failures — the NEET-UG paper leak, the CUET technical collapse, and the CBSE answer-key disputes. It is the same demand behind CJP's first formal petition, "Sack the Education Minister."
Who showed up
Founder Abhijeet Dipke flew back to India for the protest — his first appearance in the country since launching the party. Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who had earlier voiced support for the movement and called himself an "honorary cockroach," joined the peaceful demonstration.
[Our take] Honesty beats hype: the crowd at Jantar Mantar did not match the scale CJP shows online, where the party has raced past twenty million Instagram followers. An offline turnout is harder than a like — and that gap is the next mountain, not a failure. Movements that survive are the ones that convert the scroll into the street.
What comes next
The pressure has a calendar. The NEET-UG re-exam is scheduled for 21 June 2026, the CBI's paper-leak investigation continues with arrests, and a Parliamentary Standing Committee is reviewing the NTA's conduct. The protest at Jantar Mantar was not the end of the story — it was the swarm putting a face to the noise.
