The Accountability Record

The System That Failed You — By the Numbers

You are sitting this exam again because NTA — the body that printed your May 3 paper — had an internal question-setter who sold questions through a WhatsApp group called "Private Mafia." Here is what the CBI investigation has confirmed.

What the Investigation Found
  • 13 people arrested as of May 27, 2026 by the CBI in connection with the NEET UG 2026 paper leak.
  • P.V. Kulkarni — alleged NTA question-setter described as the "kingpin" — placed in 14-day judicial custody. His alleged role: preparing and leaking the actual paper from within NTA's own network.
  • Manisha Havaldar — arrested as source of Physics questions; placed in 6-day CBI custody on May 27, 2026.
  • Leak mechanism: a WhatsApp group nicknamed "Private Mafia" circulated approximately 120 of 180 questions before exam day. (Republic World ↗)
  • Paper sold per student for an alleged ₹10–25 lakh through middlemen. (Bar and Bench ↗)
  • May 25, 2026: SC bench of Justices P.S. Narasimha and Alok Aradhe told NTA: "It's sad that they have not learnt their lessons." NTA's affidavit was due May 28. Next hearing: May 29, 2026.

"It's sad that they have not learnt their lessons."

— Supreme Court of India, Justices P.S. Narasimha & Alok Aradhe, May 25, 2026

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan acknowledged a "breach in the chain of command." The government has announced CBT (computer-based) exams from 2027. That is next year. You sit on June 21 — this year, this paper, this system. (BizzBuzz ↗)

CJP Position

What CJP Is Demanding

June 21 is not just a re-exam date. It is proof that the same system that sold your paper is still running your exam. CJP has five demands.

  1. Immediate dissolution of NTA and creation of a new, independent statutory examination body with third-party audit — before NEET 2027.
  2. Resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who acknowledged the "breach in chain of command" and has not resigned.
  3. Supreme Court-monitored CBI investigation into all 13 arrests, with trial fast-tracked and sentences proportional to damage caused.
  4. Mandatory compensation to all 22.79 lakh students for exam fees, travel costs, and psychological harm — not just fee refunds.
  5. Full transition to computer-based testing (CBT) immediately — not from 2027. Paper-and-pen exams cannot be secured at this scale.

THE SWARM REMEMBERS. THE SYSTEM HAS NOT LEARNED. WE KEEP COUNT.
