NSUI, led by president Vinod Jakhar, held protests outside the NTA office in Delhi demanding a complete ban on NTA and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Activists blocked the NTA building entrance and called for accountability after 22.8 lakh students were affected by the NEET UG 2026 cancellation.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding NEET be exempted for the 2026–27 academic year, with medical admissions reverted to Class 12 marks-based state-level selection. Stalin also publicly stated that "NEET is a scam" following the NEET UG 2026 cancellation.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called for NTA to be dissolved following the NEET UG 2026 cancellation, leading opposition demands that included holding the BJP government accountable. Gandhi stated that "NEET is now an auction" — a reference to the pattern of paper leaks tied to money paid by students to obtain leaked questions.

A structural shift to CBT would eliminate physical paper printing and distribution entirely — removing the chain-of-custody that enabled the 2026 leak, where NTA-appointed subject experts sold questions.
